What is the Adult Emergency Financial Assistance Program (AEFAP)?

2-1-1 Tampa Bay Cares, Inc. is the front door for a collaborative project called the Adult Emergency Financial Assistance Program (AEFAP). This project helps individuals and married couples without minor children by providing financial assistance to help prevent evictions, foreclosures, and unhelathly living conditions as well as things to keep people employed. The assistance provided is done to help empower individuals and married couples without minor children to become self-sufficient. Assistance is provided only once every twelve (12) months. This collaborative is a partnership between Pinellas County Human Services (PCHS) and 2-1-1 Tampa Bay Cares (211).


Eligible individuals and married couples need to be Pinellas County residents, over the age of 18 or legally emancipated youth, and under 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Click here for a link to the most recent Federal Poverty Guidelines.

2-1-1 provides the following AEFAP services:

  • Screen the client for emergency needs. 
  • Make referrals to community partners for those who do not qualify.
  • Provide financial support to eligible individuals and married couples who a documented emergency need.

AEFAP helps with the following needs:

  • Overdue rent/mortgage assistance to avoid foreclosure/eviction.
  • Utility assistance to prevent unhealthy living conditions or evictions.
  • Emergency transportation assistance for work or medical appointments.
  • Other required work related expenses that present unexpected hardship. 

Documents needed to get assistance:

  • Proof of citizenship.
  • Proof of Pinellas County Residents.
  • Proof of Income. 
  • Proof of Assets for requests over $1,000.
  • Proof of qualified emergency need. 

How do I get my documents to 2-1-1?

You can fax or email your documents to 2-1-1 AEFAP team by fax documents to 1-727-255-5156 or to Email 2-1-1.
